FORM WITHOUT REGARD TO FUNCTION

Imagine our brain, not so much a repository of memories and consciousness…but as a filter. A continual connection to “The Collective Consciousness” would overwhelm most mortals, causing insanity. As my teacher once told me, “The task is not To See. But To See only when you choose To See.”

I eventually understood that such “stuff” is omni- present. And without the ability to ‘filter’ such input, daily life involves infinite sources of input…overwhelming and unsurvivable.

But limited, selective, intermittent access to ALL KNOWLEDGE might be endured…and is probably what we regard as LIFE. We find the occasional synchronicity engaging, rather than overwhelming.

This view aptly explains savants and those whose brains, examined after death, turned out to be largely water.

Such a theory also supports the documented history of pre-cognition, déjà vu, reincarnation, possession, time travel, shamanism, astral projection, faith healing and a panoply of behavior and perceptions we still categorize as ‘anomalous’.

So, to engage this point of view requires that you first accept the existence of…a mythical repository of ALL THERE IS TO BE KNOWN- all humanity has ever know and will ever come to know. You might call it Collective Consciousness. Or you can coin your own phrase..(who knows, maybe it will find cache;)

But if you can wrap your mind around and incorporate this belief system into your own world view…then meditation and prayer and chanting and other ways to alter consciousness offer the possibility of accessing that mother lode of KNOWING.

I suspect many have, over time. I suspect some of them were overwhelmed. And I suspect some of them graduated;)
